Yet another dumb question,

Having a squeal on cold start that goes away when warmed up and then happens continuously when in gear and goes away in neutral. With a wrench, put it on alternator, idler pulley, and belt tensioner. Sound seems to be coming from the tensioner pulley. Replaced the serpentine belt, idler pulley, and the belt tensioner with the same symptoms. Still sounds like it's coming from the belt auto tensioner.

Any suggestions?

If you replaced the tensioner it probably ain't that. Do you have one of those cheap automotive stethoscopes? They can really help with this stuff. I've also found that those bearing noises aren't really temperature dependent. Water pump or fan clutch, how is your cooling system?

I have a couple good medical stethscopes at work, keep forgetting to bring one home so I resorted to the wrench. And I just did the water pump and thermostat about 1000 miles ago so I believe those are fine. Fan clutch (I believe) is good as well, not able to spin it when engine is hot or cold.

I will also add, the serpentine belt on the jeep was the wrong size and routed incorrectly to make it work. The belt looked fine but I bought the correct size and routed it properly.
