Bestop Replace-A-Top Questions Over Here

Hey everyone, I need to pull the trigger on a replacement soft top within the next few days here and I have a few anal retentive questions that I'm getting stuck on.

I've been looking at Bestop, MasterTop and Quadratec, and from what I can tell, what I've read, as far as fitment and quality goes, Bestop is it. I've also heard that even though they are the go-to, and they were the OEM for the TJ, there have been some people reporting fitment and sagging issues recently. Does anyone know anything about this, has their quality dropped recently, or are the just individual cases?

I'm also stuck between the sailcloth and the premium twill. I like the idea of the upgrade to the twill, but I don't want it to stick out on a TJ. I don't want it to look like a baseball cap on a Triumph Spitfire or something like that.

I get it's more like premium soft tops, but I was hoping people that have both the Bestop sailcloth and premium twill, so I can get an idea of what they actually look like. Many thanks

I've got the premium twill OEM top on the JL and a Black Diamond Trektop on the LJ (that I've done a Replace-a-top on), I'm not sure if there is a different between that and the "Black Diamond Sailcloth".

I don't know that there will really be a big aesthetic difference, they do look different, but I'm not sure a civilian would even notice it.

I will say that the premium twill is a huge step up from the Black Diamond. I think the weight of it helps some with wind noise as well. I haven't had any cleaning issues with the twill, it's seen plenty of red clay mud and still cleans up nice.

I stopped using Bestop five years ago when they stopped being the best top. The quality of their tops made in other countries is inconsistent at best. I'd buy one when they're on sale for under $300.

See, I was worried that was the case. Is it just the classic, moving production overseas thing? Does that apply to all their tops?

Is there anything better on the market? Does anyone have experience with MasterTop?
