We normally have to pay in, never a lot, but can't quite get it to break even. This year we got back what we normally pay in.

I think it was enough to fill both our gas tanks, neither hold over 19 gallons.

My boss 20+ years ago from a former socialist country said if people had to write a check every month for taxes like they used to do way back when there would be a rebellion.
Withholding taxes without seeing it makes it painless.

No refund here... the the 30th year in a row.

Paid more this year than last by a little on nearly the same income.

Next year will be more because the catch up 401K is not Roth Only so it's no longer deductible.

With houses in both PA and lower NY, I already give enough. I might sell PA and 1031 exchange for a place in the Keys or SC. That way when I sell NY I can move to that one for 2 years and get the gains exemption on that one as well.

Federal was enough to pay the accountant for their services and the money owed to the state.

We pay in quarterly based on an estimate. In '25 we overpaid and will get a bit back.
