A/c compressor is cycling a lot so I figure it's low on refrigerant. Daughter told me her ac stopped and I said yeah, it needs charged. Later my wife told me the blower wasn't blowing. Needless to say I went out and we investigated. Low speed works, so my guess is resistor is bad. The other speeds are no go. Maybe there's 2 low 2 high? The two high don't work.
I looked at the wire and it's a bit melted. So guess I need that pigtail as well.
What's the chance the blower is bad and causing the issue? She said it didn't make any wierd sounds.
Then to complicate things. I recently added a KIA homelink mirror with compass and auto dimming. I tapped into the radio circuit with an add a fuse. That seems to control the homelink and compass features. I tapped into the blower circuit with an add a fuse for apparently the auto dimming. This was about 2 weeks ago and she honestly hasn't driven a bunch since. Both the radio and the blower are 10amp. I added 5amp fuses for the auto dimming and the homelink.
What's the chance that caused the issue? She doesn't drive at night much and at that it's city driving so no auto dimming needed. I unhooked that feature.
My understanding is those add a fuse would be wire before the items such as radio and blower. So I wouldn't think that pig tail would be affected. Neither fuse is blown.
How would you proceed? Just new resistor and pigtail? Or do I get the blower fan as well? This appears to be gm setup that was very similar to my old 90s gm trucks. Not sure not same controls and resistor. Those had issues as well.
Is this just coincidence?
