Hi Guys,
1999 Wrangler Sport RHD with Dana 44 rear and about 130K kilometres on it. Fitted with Dick Cepek Extreme Mud Terrain 31's on a very modest lift.
Did a long drive on the weekend (800kms) and whilst everything performed brilliantly, had to do an emergency brake when an Emu decided to try to be An hero and was left feeling very underwhelmed by the braking performance. I know the tyres aren't exactly ideal for high speed bitumen braking but the whole thing was a bit sketchy and the front right was very keen to lock up.
So, am going to give the brakes a birthday on the weekend with some fresh brake fluid and new front pads and check everything is working properly and adjusted correctly. The range of choices from the local auto parts store is a bit bewildering from $10 basement bin specials to $180 Bendix super heavy duty 4WD pads.
Any recommendations on pads? Is it worth putting in "4WD" rated pads (whatever that means)?
Should I do the rear drums at the same time? No real experience doing drum brakes but mate who is helping me has done them.
