Buyer Beware

Why shitty parts? I will admit I’m in the salt capital of the us. But I wouldn’t call my parts shitty. Maybe rusty at worst.
Not to put too fine a point on it but if I get a rusty part, I got fucked. I don't do rusty parts. Where I am, rusty parts are shitty parts.

That's a great attitude. I'll make sure to never buy anything from you - What the fuck do you have against packing things appropriately? I highly doubt your claimed 99-1 ratio is accurate.
Nothing at all. I’m a one man team and try to package everything as best as possible. Unfortunately things do happen. I probably spent thousands in packaging material and services. Yet things still get damaged. My whole point is. If something happens during shipement or we made a mistake. I will always fix it.

I think you are being a bit to literal. I’m selling 20 something year old parts. There “could be some surface rust on them”. If you don’t like that. Buy new parts and avoid it.

I bought a radio from him which was not packaged properly and was damaged during shipping. He wanted to go to the shipper and blame them, but I told him it wasn't packaged well and that was the reason it got damaged and was not due to the shipper. A week or so later he did refund me, but his communication skills are very weak at best. I had honestly written it off by the time I saw the refund.

With that said he did make good on it, but I would have loved to have had a working radio. I'm not surprised there have been other issues with his shipping practices. I don't wish the guy any ill intent, but he could improve on his packaging.
I agree, I didn't start this post to degrade anyone, just a heads up. If he has a part someone is in dire need of, then buy it by all means, but just beware that it might not be in great condition due to rust/corrosion, it might arrive damaged, or you might still never get the actual part you need.

Love it! How are you enjoying that free sound bar?

@Goreshnik Look man, I'm not on here saying you're a lousy person or name calling, just merely documenting what happened and giving other members a heads up of your questionable dealings. If you want me to post pictures of the other products you sold me that I wasn't able to use after I asked for one "in good condition" yet the part was totally rotted out, a list of the items I ordered but weren't in my order, and screenshots of our conversations showing I was never a crybaby, just looking to get the parts I had ordered and that I in fact did offer to pay for the (damaged) parts I kept and was able to use. And as I said in my initial post I wrote off the first time I ordered from you because I wasn't looking to cause trouble or argue over the internet/phone, and found the part I needed elsewhere. But when I've ordered a handful of parts from you on a couple occasions, and issues both times I felt like it needed to be brought up in the community. I sent @Chris a private message about it and he's the one that encouraged me to make it public because he's heard the same story before from other members. I'd say you should be thankful that @Chris is a nice and laidback guy and doesn't force people that are running their companies through his forum to at least have a paid membership. Instead you're freeloading on his site to run your company and taking advantage of members here and a free venue to promote your for-profit company. When you order something on Amazon and leave a less than 5 star review is that being a crybaby? No, that's leaving a review, which is what is happening here. You're just getting offended that people are voicing their history with you when it's less than what they expected.

It still isn't working because I'm still needing undamaged speakers for it and the wiring I requested. So haven't really gotten to enjoy it I'd say. If I'm being honest, this "free" soundbar has turned into a burden. Having a non-functioning part just sitting on my Jeep sure is pretty though and brings me all sorts of delight. So thanks. I'm not going to argue here, you have my number if you want to address anything else with me.

Please pair everything? Not sure what else I sent you. But go right ahead. Making someone pay to use a free forum is extortion. Probably why he doesn’t do it. If you had such a big issue with this. Post it right away. There is no need to wait a month and than do it. As far as part sent. As always my policy is if they didn’t arrive in the condition you want or missing. Just message me. I’ll do my best to make thing right. Just like I did with you with the refund and letting you keep the sound bar. But since you said it’s such a burden for you. I’ll be happy to send you shipping label to send it back.

Yes! Gloves off Friday on WranglerTjForum.

I say Goreshnik needs to throw down with a "lifetime membership" here. And send TrevorStevens some bubble wrapped sound-bar speakers. But, that's just me.

It's not extortion, it's giving back to the community you want to sell parts in. Chris' time is money.

If you get a full refund I do not feel bad for you at all. Seems like things went wrong in shipping and @Goreshnik more than appropriately handled it. Does it suck your parts didn’t come intact? Sure. But trying to flame someone who sent you a full refund is just stupid. Get on with your life.

No, I am not being the tiniest bit too literal. Here is a link to one of my personal builds. It is 23 years old. The pics tell the rest of the story.

Almost too much rust

yikes.

In college physics I had a project where I had to build a container to drop a raw egg from a 5 story parking garage without it breaking, and aerodynamic braking options (like parachutes) were off limits.

I still use those principles when I pack stuff, and as I'm doing it I hope that the recipient notices and appreciates the effort.

Until recently, I spent about 15 years in the fine art shipping business. We often used very simple materials. Lots of bubble wrap, plastic sheeting and cardboard to protect delicate, very high value pieces. The difference between good packaging and bad packaging is how well one understands the object being packed and how you utilize the materials available to you. Too little packaging is fairly easy to recognize. But there is also such a thing as too much. Things need to move a bit inside the box, but they need to move in a even and controlled manner.

Well said. Even I recently shipped some delicate ammo reloading equipment ( electric scales) to a friend. I visited my works shipping dept and raided foam, paper, bubble wrap and air bags. My buddy was very impressed with my work. I told him I know the way UPS treats stuff, like the opening scene of the fist Ace Ventura movie. They beat boxes up. In todays climate shipping needs to be taken seriously.

FedEx tended to be a last resort for us. Their white glove Custom Critical service is very good but prohibitively expensive for most of us. Everything else was a risk where we clearly waived all liability. I was told by our FedEx CC rep to assume that anything sent through their regular services would be dropped from a height of 3 feet.

One time, a client bought a nice side table at an auction. Auction houses can be stingy cheap and somehow it was decided to send it to me via UPS Ground so I could make the final delivery to the residence. The logistics chain wasn't unusual, just the choice to use UPS.

The driver rolls up and does his thing to get unloaded, crashes around with a pallet jack for a while to get under the crate. His truck is about a foot taller than my loading dock. Instead of asking me and my helpers for a hand to carry the crate into our shop, he dumps the crate and pallet jack together off the truck.

I immediately tell my guys to get that crate open. The driver is confused and I'm holding his paperwork without signing. A few minutes later we see that all is well, thanks to the good packaging.

As I sign off, I calmly explain to the driver that the crate he just dumped off of his truck contains a very old and unusual piece of furniture that my client just bought for $750,000. Please don't do things like that again.

The poor guy looked very scared and got out of there quickly.

Exactly.

If you want to stop the motion of an object without damaging it, you want to use the packing material to dissipate its kinetic energy over a distance rather than instantaneously through a collision with either the box/crate or overly rigid packing material.

Not unlike airbags and crumple zones used to dissipate the kinetic energy of a vehicle occupant over a distance.
