Calling CA jeepers

What are regulations like in CA regarding modifying your tj. My jeep is licensed in WI and we NEVER have inspection or anything of that sort so laws regarding fenders, lights, and etc do not really matter here. What kind of laws exist (assuming your rig is street legal). Im assuming it is impractical to try to make my midwest tj acceptable by CA standards?

Tire coverage laws are enforced here. Depending on which county you reside, you have to smog every 2 years. Northern Cali is a bit more lax.

Tire coverage, headlight height, smog e/o year if vehicle older than 6 yrs, need front license plate, probably others. There are no vehicle inspections like many eastern states.

I have two good Cal highway patrol buds. They don't really pay much mind unless you are in a hugely lifted brodozer and/or tires hanging out wayyy beyond coverage.

I heard about a possible biannual emissions requirement, but that must vary by county. Lift heights limited to 27 in off ground to the bottom of frame :/

Just curious what is taking you to Hanford? Are you military? Im originally from there and lived there for 18 years

Not yet, I'm graduating nursing school soon and am looking for a place to wheel, pays well, and has national guard close (as I'm going straight back into school to get my masters as a flight nurse). So some day I'll be military, just in planning stages now. Hanford was ranked really high for job growth vs cost of living. Plus the weather doesn't hurt(; hah do you like the area? I like the idea of being able to go north to snowboard some weekends

It has its good and bad like everywhere. I dont like the heat in the summer. Itll get up to 115. But you can get to china peak within about 2 hours to snowboard which is just east. And the beach is about 2 1/2 hrs to the west. I personally wouldn't move back there but there are worse places. One tip tho, i would definitely move to the north side of town if you go. Anything south is getting worse every year with gangs
