This one is going to sound whack! 2004 TJ Unlimited 6 cyl, auto. Won't take gas at the pump, Was great, now when I stick nozzle in it will only take abot a quart, maybe half gallon then kicks out. can't get it to take any mor than that at a time.fill hose looks good hose looks good. Could it be something whacky has happened in the Fuel management valve? 2 check valves and hoses on the top of tank, which one ends up being the vent when filling? Thanks in advance

There are some threads on this, possibly your vent hose is blocked. Or maybe its simpler than that. I have to leave the nozzle maybe only 75%...ahem...penetrated... in order to get gas to flow unattended.

Not whack at all. It sounds like your overflow valve is stuck more closed than open. Many people reverted to different fuel filler hoses, but the real fix for it either trickling in or overflowing is here:

I've noticed some gas stations just are shitty about this too. There are some stations where I just can't click the pump on and leave it in any vehicle

This is what fixed mine. I tried the GM hose replacement. Didn't help at all. Don't waste time or money trying anything else.

When I was having this problem, I noticed this too. Some pumps would work better than others. I learned which gas stations were better.

At one point, I was topping off before a run. I got it to start filling. Then at some point, gas started spraying like a sprinkler. Had to get close to stop it. Of course, I got gas all over me and smelled like gas all day. So until it got fixed, I was carrying a change of clothes in the rig in case that happened again.

I feel like I thought the same thing back then - did you ever do the valve fix, or not feel like you needed to?

When I bought a GTS it came with a tank, and my tank didn't fit so I ended up swapping to that tank and haven't had issues.

However I know of one station in Fountain that does this with my 3 other vehicles, and there is one in Divide that always does it with my truck and MR2.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

vent hose is an easy reasonable place to start. Had an old CJ7 with the same problem and it was the vent hose. Fabbed a new one out of bulk hose ezpz.
