Car pics too cool not to share

The boy seems to be mostly concerned with mechanical aspects and how things work, and for some reason he gravitates to the rusty-and-crusty things

Raising him right! ;)(y)

$10,000 car right there. :sneaky: If that's local to you, I see some parts I need. ;)

I say $10,000 jokingly, but with the crazy market lately, that's probably not far off. Steve Mags put out one of his junk yard crawl youtube videos a few years ago covering '64 Chevys, the video below. Well, I called a few months later digging for convertible specific trim from the car in the video and they told me that car was just sold and loaded up heading to California (shipping $$). I asked how much and I think he said $6,000. I'm sitting on a gold mine, but somehow I still feel like I'm getting the shaft. :sneaky:

Speaking of Steve Magnante, I saw a recent video of his (released a couple of weeks ago) that actually made me concerned for him. He was doing a JYC video, and was featuring what he kept calling a '72 Grand Prix. Problem was that it wasn't. It was clearly a '69 or '70 GP. When he initially mislabeled the car's year, I assumed it was just a one-time mistake, a fluke that he wouldn't be repeating. Sadly, he did a number of times throughout the episode, even when he had a dealer's brochure laid out there with the frontend of a '72 on the page that clearly shows the difference (any GP fan would know what I'm talking about). When he went around to the back of the car, the trunk lid was clearly a '69/'70, so it's not like someone put an earlier clip on a later car. This is not the kind of mistake Steve makes, and it made me consider that his battle with that illness he was dealing with may have impacted his acuity in ways I never realized. Sad, really. I was also surprised that his cameraman didn't question the error and point it out once it became obvious that there was a huge difference between the car and the picture in the brochure. Even a non-car guy should have picked up on that. :(

I've noticed him slipping up on a few things since then. I don't know much about the infection that he had, but you can see it clearly had an effect on him. He just seems easily gassed now. I hate it for him. He's still doing a good job, and I enjoy his JYC videos. (y)

If that '64 is a $10,000 car, then I can claim that I've owned a few hundred thousand dollars worth of "classics" in my lifetime...:sneaky:

Just how many '64 Convertibles have you owned? 2?

I just took a look, that might not be a $10,000 car anymore....

This "lightweight" '63 can be yours for $18,000 + fees.

Those convertibles will hurt you. Nice #2 cars are selling in the $100,000 range now, and project cars are $10K. Like Jerry said about the gold mine and the shaft, I know which one I'll get. :ROFLMAO:

'65-66 cars are cheaper than X-frames, but they still want $10,000 for this one.

Nice grille though !

Do you see that trim piece that wraps around the top well? Big money. It took me 20 years of looking here and there to find one for under $1,000, and it's just a little piece of stainless. I've watched them on ebay go into the $3K range for restored pieces. If somebody wants to go gently pop that off for me I'll send $500 and pay for shipping right now. :sneaky:

Interesting , buy the 63 for a good deal at $ 15,000 , simply add another $ 240,000 and you could have a nice $ 100,000 car .

and to me it is still an ugly car. Sorry but I grew up idolizing (born in 67) the round back cars of the early 70's like this:

I don't have an appreciation for the 50' - 60's big boat cars.

Don't you bring actual mathematics in to this. In the world of toys, emotions always blur actual numbers. ;)

In reality, paying someone to restore that '63 would probably cost close to half of that $240K.
