Since I raised the topic of Can-Am cars, that got me thinking about a driver/instructor I've been following for many years now, a guy by the name of Jim Pace. He's one hell of a driver and always gets to play with some fantastic machinery, it seems. His videos are great fun to watch, especially when he gives live commentary from the cockpit. I got to wondering why I hadn't seen any videos from him in quite some time, so I did some digging. Rather unfortunately, it appears he died after contracting the Coof back in 2020, but not before surviving flipping a Shadow DN-4 a few months earlier at full chat on the front straight at Elkhart Lake.
Here's a sampling of some of his videos. Most of these were filmed at Elkhart Lake (a personal favorite), a mix of Can-Am hardware with a squashed Beetle, a GT40 (at VIR) and a Shelby GT350 (at Sebring) thrown in for the hell of it. They're all a good watch but the narration of the GT40 at VIR is sublime.

My neighbor has a 55 Ford Victoria same color combo as the 56 in your picture.
I actually looked for a 60 Starliner when I bought my 62 Sunliner. Issue is there aren't many of those left anymore between low production numbers and they were very prone to rusting badly.. The few that are out there were too far away or very pricey..
The early 70's Gran Torino's have always been cool in my eye.. My first driving car was a 69 Torino GT formal roof.
My 79 Bronco XLT Sport I had from 1980-83.

Alway was a fan of the full size Bronco. As much as I like the early Bronco the 78 & 79 Bronco were more to my liking.

"96 Bronco XLT 2wd conversion, built to be a Sport clone (painted trim and bumpers), 07 Vic front end, 05 Vic rear end (not flipped or notched), Gen1 Coyote/6R80 combo with longtubes, 18s with 275/45s. Built by @farmtruckracingtx
@outcast_autoworks provided the LCA mounts and motor mounts for this build and the quality and fit was top notch.
We used @pbhperformance ‘s Gen1/6R wiring harness, trans cooler adapters, evap block off and radiator hose adapter fitting and everything they provided worked perfectly.
@hdcircuitry provided the Raptor fan harness which was integrated into the PBH harness-very well built and robust wiring from his set up!
Everything else was fabbed or customized by us here at FTRTX.
Also-shout out to @texas_speed_lab_performace for always being a great friend and answering my dumb questions, he is the true OG of OBS Vic and Coyote swaps!"

I have always thought one of the full-size Broncos would be fun to convert to 2wd, and then lower it. Not slam it, necessarily, but at least get it down a few inches. I would want to try and make it look like it could have been ordered like that from the factory. I like weird chit like dat, man...

Not sure what it is about them, but I've quite liked the 8KCAB since I first saw one (but I'd take Citabria
). Another tail dragger that's right up there for me would be one of these...Not a pilot and never have been, though I was seriously considering getting my PPL (pre 09/11/01). Always thought planes were cool (warbirds and GA aircraft mostly, not an airliner guy) and got into using as well as developing flight simulation software many years ago. To develop the software aircraft properly, it required a bit of working knowledge on flight dynamics and systems. Suppose it was a natural progression to want to apply that knowledge in the real world at some point. Life and lack of funds intervened and it never went any farther.

Your daughter and I are of similar age, how does she feel about cars now, or does she have any old toys of her own? It seems like my gen is the last that really enjoys cars in the traditional manner. I find it interesting, and alarming, how little interest in cars the current teen-to-20-somethings have today. Some seem to follow normal trends, but I'd estimated about half of them don't even want to get their license. How are these kids getting around, don't they have places they want to go?
This stuff is on my mind because I just found out my youngest nephew (17) has decided that he doesn't care about getting his license. I'm confident he will be getting his license soon because I know his mom will not be shuttling his ass around much longer. He doesn't have to like cars, which is a weird about-face from a few years ago, but I know my sister will not be a personal taxi for a grown man. Confused rant over.

Granted I'm no spring chicken, in the house I grew up in, it was not an option...not that I wasn't literally frothing at the bit to drive by the time I hit 16 anyway. My old man stated, "You will be getting your driver's license, you will either purchase your own car or drive what I supply for you to use, and you will get a job". He nor my step-mother had any intention of hauling any of us around once we hit driving age. I relished the freedom it afforded.
I wonder how many people look at this and don't realize Ford didn't build this , or follow Chevy's lead in full size until 1978. This is really cool !
I was excited to be legal. No more ducking and dodging down the back roads.
I know other kids my age were just excited to be mobile. My grandpa gave me a car to drive and said, "you have six months to find your own car". About five months in I found and bought my car, then about five months after that I wrecked the damn thing and had to borrow grandpas car again while it was being fixed. I don't get this at all , I was trilled with cars from about 8 yo. When I started saving all birthday money etc to buy a Camaro SS . Watching the Chevy commercials on Bonanza Sunday night inspired me. I bought my 1st car at 13 , a 51 Chevy DeLuxe , for $100.00 . ( Turns out 100.00 didn't really buy much in the way of a 69 Camaro SS ) .
