Geezus almighty what a day it was when it shouldn't have been. I spent the last couple frustrating hours erecting my HF car port.

When I started it was a nice day with a slight breeze then as soon as I start building it becomes Chicago. I had to recruit the lady to hold down the car port cover and she almost became a kite. Then a huge gush of wind hits it and nearly tips it over onto our new car. So I'm holding it down myself while she moves the car and she hits the pole and almost runs me over. Typical of her. I decide to grab the TJ coil springs I have laying around and attach them to the tarp to help hold it down. Not a great idea cuz those coil springs were flying and flopping around in the wind trying to knock us out. Then I get everything measured and set and about to hammer in the tie down poles when another gush of wind hits it and shifts it about 2 feet off and bunch of poles start falling apart. (SIGH) It's like the higher powers are watching down and playing with the wind controls to make my job incredibly frustrating. Three hours later I finally get it covered and zipped up with the XJ inside....and it starts raining.
Last year was the first year with it (we erect it for winter use) and one day I come home and it's gone. I'm going up driveway thinking "who the hell steals a car port?" and then I noticed it about 35 yards across the yard up in the trees. The trees are the only thing that stopped it from tumbling onto my neighbor's house. It had a big hole in it too, nice. So I set it back where it was and hammered in poles to tie it down. A couple days later I see my jeep sticking out of the front so again I'm going up my driveway thinking someone moved my jeep but no the car port pulled out the poles and shifted 3 feet backwards. (SIGH) I discovered my ground is saturated and too soft for poles to handle this job. So I pulled out the winch on the XJ and attached it to the roof poles. That (beep)er did not move.
I have 8 cement blocks tied to the poles and a 70 lb bag of sand ratchet strapped to the front. If it moves I will set it on fire.
