Carrier inspection

If there is a clunk under deceleration, check your pinion to make sure it is tight and does not have ANY in/out movement. A little rotational movement back and forth is normal as that is the backlash.

Ok now we’re getting some where, you original post did not share all you have done. Yes you do have a problem there, If you have to pull the carrier, mark the caps each side and orientation. I use a center punch make one punch and two punches with corresponding punches on the housing. The boss on the spider or side gear should run in the carrier. You may be able to change spiders without pulling the carrier. I do not know if here is enough room with the Eaton but it’s worth a try. The arrow in the picture is the area to look at if that side gear broke that may cause the problem you are experiencing.

EXTREMELY HELPFUL. Thank you very much !!!!!

The locker works !! I can engage it and a soft click and you can barely turn the jeep until you hit unlock. It goes straight lol

That axle and side gear moving like that doesn’t seem normal.. you should be able to pull the axle and inspect the gears. You may have to remove the pin to pull the spider gears just rotate them out of there after the pin is removed then you should be able to pull the side gear out and inspect. Take a picture of the whole carrier I want to see if I can identify which on it is.

Will do. After the snow goes away that is :( it's no fun to have a, new to me, jeep and can't ride it !
