Has anyone built a mount that replaces the stock AM/FM antenna with a CB antenna? I’ve seen kits for antennas that do both, just not a mount that only holds a CB antenna there.

Hell, I haven't even been able to figure out what voodoo they used to hold the stock antenna mount on the Jeep...but, good luck ;)

If I can’t find anything ready to go, I’ll probably use an angle bracket type and bolt it through and use a fire ring. I’ve got it on the rear taillight, but I’m going to LED to clear the tire carrier so it’s this or scabbing something onto the tire carrier.

Does your front bumper have a place to mount it? I mounted mine on the passenger side (strangely, no pics; sorry) and it worked well. The bumper is currently not mounted to anything since it came off of the '01 and the '06 has not yet gone through the frame paint correction required before mounting the bumper.

No room on either bumper, they are both shorties with a winch or tire taking up the room.

That Rugged Ridge Kit looks good, I wonder if they would sell just the mount.

I’ve got one of those. However, I’m building a tire carrier that will interfere with it and the tail lights. So I’m looking at doing flush mount LEDs.

I've got LED tails and will mount my antenna on my tire carrier. @Mr. Bills suggested that I run a grounding line from the antenna to the body to help with a possible weak ground connection from the tire carrier to the body.

Got it. I just used a piece of angle iron and bolted it to the holes on the tailgate where the rubber bumpers use to be.

Generally speaking I'm no fan of Quadratec but they're one of the few to have a CB antenna mount that isn't powder coated steel. The powder coating gets in the way of properly grounding the antenna mount and unless you grind the powder coating off in several places you won't be able to get the antenna tuned well enough for a good low SWR.

This is a stainless steel mount that eliminates the two main problems... grounding and where to mount it. It mounts directly behind the tail light. https://www.quadratec.com/products/96080_111.htm

I would like to buy just the mount as well. I will probably have to build one.

CB, AM/FM mount kit from rugged ridge or ball mount bracket?

I'm looking into installing a firestik fs antenna and CB radio. Has anyone installed the rugged ridge mount? It replaces your original antenna and comes with splicer so u can connect car radio and CB radio?

I like the idea so I dont have to put another antenna onjeep.

Also ham radio outlet sells a ball mount but I would have to drill into the body.

Anyone has any advice?
