Channellock, Klein or Knipex?

Put the Milwaukees to a test today. Had a 316 stainless fastener bind up on installation. Didn’t appear to be cross threaded but still wasn’t tightening up or loosening. Was 1/4” from even being tight when it happened. Stripped the hex out of it trying to loosen it.

Figured I’d lock the pliers on it and crank the nut off with a wrench. The bolt never turned so the the Milwaukee pliers did their job. But I couldn’t turn it by hand.

Grabbed my M12 gen 2 stubby and promptly snapped the bolt in half for easy removal.

It galled. Stainless can do that. We always used grease on stainless bolts for that reason.

Yeah, it was put in as temporary and I didn’t want to mess with anti-seize when I removed it.

I learned that one the hard way the first time a 1-1/2" bolt/nut galled on me. I called "Johnny", he was our go to for anything "impossible" to deal with. A Sawzall with some kind of special blade took care of it, but it wasn't particularly quick!

I wasted a $3800 pressure transmitter at work when a stainless fitting galled in the body while I was trying to bench test it. Luckily it was a used one but I never put unlubricated stainless together anymore.
