Not from a lack of frame ties. The pin on the hinge side is only attached to the top face of the bumper. The bumper is collapsing and the pin will eventually tear off due to the leverage of the carrier.
I helped a buddy install one of these on his JK then several months later helped his wife remove it when he was on travel because it was ready to fall off. Mine from EAG, another cheap Chinese manufacture, is holding up very nicely although they too have updated their design to something far inferior.
Since getting my TJ on the road I’ve learned very quick I’m not a fan of swing-out carriers.
Really thinking I’ll be looking at a Morryde in the future.
The current Smittybilt XRC has a pivot with a flange that bolts to the top surface but the pivot extends down into the bumper and is braced at the bottom end. It is very stout.
