Check engine light won't go off after O2 sensor replacement

I just bought a 2000 4 cylinder Wrangler the engine light was on they change the O2 sensor the light went off next day it came back on I did the self-diagnostic with the key no codes came up any suggestions

Are the new O2 sensors NGK/NTK brand? If not, that is possibly the problem.

Let me guess, they didn't use NGK / NTK replacement O2 sensors, right?

If so, that's your problem right there. This is a well known and highly documented issue with our TJs. If they didn't use NGK / NTK brand sensors, the check engine light will not go away.

You need to find out what brand they used in that case.

I'd bet money on it that this is your issue. If so, those codes will NOT go away.

No code is showing on the display when I do the key check it just goes back to the odometer reading

Is the check engine light on? If the check engine light is on, that means it's throwing codes. That check engine light won't go away until you put the proper O2 sensors in there.

You can always pull the codes with an OBDII scanner just to see what they say, but I'm betting they'll be O2 sensor related codes.

You may need an actual OBDII scanner to pull the codes in this case.

No problem! Make sure they use the right sensors. Believe it or not, this is a thing that most mechanics wouldn't know about unless they were very speciality Jeep mechanics
