Chirping sound from front right wheel

I hear a chirping sound from my front right wheel. Could that be wheel bearings? Any suggestion on what brand to get?

Could also be a u-joint. Those make chirping noises when the grease dries out.

Could also be a bent sheet metal dust shield. They will make a screeching sound if they get pushed/bent into the rotor.

Sometimes, if you look close at the U joint, you’ll see red oxide powder, which is indicative of rust on the needle bearings. Grease not only lubricates, but keeps water out. Think of it as heavy oil.

Go with the Spicer 5-760x u-joints on the axle shafts . They're significantly stronger and more durable.

Just because there’s no play doesn’t mean it isn’t a dried up u-joint

Yep. I removed one that had been dry for so long the needle bearings were gone and the cap had black dust in it.

Are you sure it is the right front? It can be hard to tell where these noises come from. The normal chirp generator is the centering ball in the front drive shaft double-cardan joint. If it is that you want to get it fixed real fast.

usually the culprit whenever I hear a chirp, but it’s always the rear for me

I had a random chirp at one point. Everything looked good and felt good. I decided to change the u-joint out just in case on the side it was coming from. It was dried out and the chirp went away with the new u-joint.

Stick with Spicer.

Timken for wheel bearings not sure on the bushings, probably crown or another similar one unless you can find mopar.

It’s always good to try and stick with factory original equipment. Spicer is what came on the jeep for most joints, Mopar made most of the other parts, Timken made the wheel bearings.

Lift the front wheel on the side you think is chirping. With the steering wheel turned somewhat to the side so the U-joint is not straight, rotate the front wheel. If you get 2 chirps per revolution it is the U-joint. If you get 12 to 16 chirps per revolution it is the centering ball.
