CJ vs TJ/LJ

We had a '75 CJ5 before I got my LJ. It was a '75 by the VIN number and title. In reality it was a '74 frame and drivetrain, '76 body with a dash from a '75. I called it Frankenstein. The frames for the '76's were different, so this one was rigged up to fit the '76 body. It was a big mess of a fiasco. The worst part was, my wife's family sold it to her and didn't tell her any of that. They really, REALLY misrepresented this thing when telling her about it. She was so upset when I starting finding issues with it. I worked on it and made it drivable and we hit some of the forest service roads with it and ended up having a good time locally with it, but it wasn't anything that I would trust to drive very far away. That CJ led to us wanting something better we could take on trips to the Outer Banks and have more fun it. That's how we ended up with our LJ.

Anyway, the point of this post was I was surprised that the angle of the windshield on two Wranglers 30 years different in age was the same. LOL

It was a CJ 5 that started my lifelong affair with Jeeps, I had 2, but I never liked the handling ....they were deadly.

Jeep had generally stayed the course with design until 2007.

There may come a time you don’t even recognize the iconic look.

Inlaws... Wife wanted me to give an old Acura I had to the her parents, I weighed my options and said ok. Inlaws decided to give us $2K for it. Then they drove it for 4 years, and my BIL wrecked it. My outlaws collected $5K from insurance for it. Chalk that one up as a big L for me.

Those CJs are fun to look at, but that short and narrow wheelbase and the scary handling... no doubt they could be deadly! I’d still own one, just not as a highway cruiser or daily driver.

I bought a 1974 CJ-5 in 1976. I loved that Jeep back then, had it for 13 years and never let me down, it was my DD and hunting rig.
I wouldn't own one now. The TJ is more comfortable and Hwy worthy.

I love the CJs.

My CJ5 was a combination of a 1972 and a 1977 and it took a ton of work to actually build it. I kept the 1972 windshield frame and it was considerably steeper than the 1977, and wasn't rusted to death.
