Climate Control Fan Issue

@Matt888 if high is the only one that doesn't work, I would look at either the fan switch or the wire from the high switch to the splice in the wire that goes to the blower motor itself.

High speed bypasses the resistor completely.

That seems to be what everyone has found, I just didn’t realize for the 05 you can’t get just the switch.

Have you opened up the dash and looked at the wire harness? There is a chance the harness is melted and that may be why the switch does nothing on high. If so, you can just cut the wires and crimp on female disconnects and plug them directly back in

not yet hope to get some time around thanksgiving to knock out a few little things like this on it, my son got his license Friday and drove it to school for his first time today, it is his so I am trying to teach him how to fix things on it.

Right on. My youngest is about to get her license as well. She is the only one of my kids interested in learning to drive a manual. I think it's because there are 2 manual TJs in my garage and thinks they are cooler than the 2016 Camry we got her. She hasn't quite realized how much paying for gas impacts your spending money yet.

It is really easy to get to the backside of the switches. Pull the defroster vent cover, 3 screws to pull the bezel and 4 screws to pull the HVAC switch assembly. Should take no more than 15 minutes to get a good look at it to see what you are dealing with.

Hey guys, looking for some fan speed assistance. So far, I’ve only lost fan speed 3, everything else works. I’ve just installed a new blower motor and blower motor resistor 10 minutes age expecting this to fix my fan speed 3 and it did not. My next step is to replace the whole climate control switch panel. Is this the right next step or am I missing something? Thanks in advance!

From what I understand, the motor blower is the main culprit. It can cause problems with wiring, connectors, resistor and switches when it start having problems.

I would start tracing the wires for speed 3. Most likely. You are looking at the wire that goes from the switch panel to the blower motor relay.

If it is working on other speeds, the positive side is good. And the ground to the switch panel is for all speeds, the difference in the speed 3 circuit from speeds 1 and 2 is the wire from the control panel to resistor. Speed 4 bypasses the resistor completely.
