I just got back from a NorCal
Craft Brewery Vacation Tour. (That's the name I gave it) We drove all over NorCal for 10 days and visited 8 different breweries. Russian River Brewing was one of them. Stocked up on the Plineys.
Did you make it thru Anderson Valley Brewery and the Lost Coast Brewery?
I sure did dude! I hit up these:
Russian River, Santa Rosa
Bear Republic, Cloverdale
Anderson Valley, Booneville
North Coast, Ft Bragg
Lost Coast. Eureka
Fall River, Redding
Sierra Nevada, Chico
Hoppy, Sacramento
Dust Bowl, Turlock
It was awesome, beautiful drive, lots of rain, foggy redwood groves, and great beer. Great vacation, I'm ready to go back and check out the one's I missed along the way.
How did you like Boonville? Don't blink or you'll miss it. I was born and raised there. Has changed alot. Use to be a logging town. Next time you go through, give a yell, I might be in the area. I still go there a lot.
That whole drive on the 128 was one of the most scenic parts of the drive. We checked out a few wineries on that route too. Lots of sheep in that area . I don't know why , but every farm was loaded with tons of sheep. We fell in love with it, especially the redwood groves getting close to Mendocino. Beautiful area for sure.
Use to be a lot of sheep and apples there. A friend of mine has a ranch there and still raise a lot of sheep and cattle.
My Dad was a logger there. I use to set chockers behind his Dozer. When I got out of the service, he asked if I wanted to go in to the logging business with him. I grew up around logging and saw there was no real future in it and said "no thank you".
Got a co-worker who still has a house in Boonville.. at the little airport there. Been in his family for a long time. Has a lot of good ol' stories about growing up over there and causing his share of adolescent ruckuses.
Sounds like an awesome trip. I've made my share of beer trips.. N. Carolina is a good one, Utah has a good share, Upstate NY where i'm from.. great way to see different places and chew the fat with the locals.
We had a house at the very end of the runway before the airport was there. My Dad and I helped burn off all the grass so they could start the grading for the new airport. I was thinking as a kid how we were told not to play with matches and be careful with fires. And here we are, given a flare and told to walk along and set all this Grass on fire! My Dad owned an airplane. He was glad this new airport was being built. At the old airport, you had to fly low over it first to scare the sheep off of it so you could land. Living in the country.
Thanks for your service! Glad you are done with deployments. Where did you get the Pliny in a bottle? I used to go to an Ale House in Livermore, CA and they would have lines out the door when they got Pliny kegs in.
Total Wine in Fresno has had a lot of it for about a month. It's never been available locally ever. I don't ask questions, I just buy it.
Went on a beer run today. This was the view.

I was able to take my old 32's and Cragar steelies and put them on my ZJ. They fit with some trimming, but
