Console without subwoofer

Instead of spending bucks on replacing the entire center console... is there a way to still use the same console and just put the subwoofer in it somehow???

Yes there is, but it will require a little fab work on your part.

Drill out the rivets that hold the white plastic storage pocket to the console and remove it.
You'll need some wood and epoxy to make a frame to strengthen the speaker opening.

Cut another piece of wood to seal the top of the pocket. I added some ozite carpet.

I reattached the pocket to the console with some sheet metal screws, but if you have a rivet gun you could easily rivet it back on as well.

I put the amp closer to the fuse box, near the passenger's feet

The non subwoofer console doesn’t have the slots in the side for the speaker does it?

My ‘06 LJ has the slots but doesn’t have the subwoofer. No mention of it on the build sheet, that I recall.
