Sweet. I was looking into the Optic Armor last year. I have a new windshield frame to install, since my current one is rusting out.
I'm planning on buying a new windshield to install in the new frame, then install the frame on my Jeep. I know it's a little more expensive to buy a redundant windshield, but I think there is a lot more convenience with installing it that way.
Just an fyi - I'm most likely going with an stock windshield instead of Optic Armor.
The only reason being that it is not DOT approved, and illegal to have in my province. And my province likes to crack down on certain vehicular infringements with laws that are not as lax as most American States. So getting pulled over for something like a bumper or light check could mean a full inspection, in which case, they could fine me/impound vehicle for a non DOT compliant windshield.
And my Jeep is my daily/only driver.
(One of the reasons it's illegal is that it is not compliant to allow rescue workers to smash and clear the windshield in order to pull be through it. Which is understandable for "most vehicles", but a really stupid law IMO with regards to my Jeep, due to their much smaller windshield size...and much better alternatives for pulling a human out of - especially in summer with no top on.)
I'm still haven't bought the new windshield yet, so I'm still curious with your experience with the Optic Armor. I'd much prefer the Optic Armor, as stone chips are common where I drive. Thank you for your update - it's much appreciated!
