Currie Currectlync steering help

Hey Jerry or Chris or anybody that has the Currie Currectlynk. The bolt that goes through the tapered end of the drag link from the tie rod is too short. I can't get the castle nut started. I know I'm using the proper tie rod end. Any suggestions? Thanks

That stud is tapered and it is a real snug fit, it might take a few taps with a mallet to seat it down into the knuckle (tie rod?) far enough so you can thread the castle nut on. I'm not 100% sure which stud you're having trouble getting the castle nut onto but they're all tapered & tight fits.

X2 to Jerry's advice. Take a photo if you are still stuck to show us what you mean for sure, but it does indeed take a few good taps with a mallet.

You have the tie rod on the wrong side of the drag link and its stud faces forward. That nut is supposed to fit inside its recess on the drag link.

Make it look like this.

The castle nut is supposed to fit into the recessed hole in the drag link? If that's the case then I do have some thing backwards. The instructions are kinda vague but may be that's what it said to bow the cotter pin.

Everyone beat me to it! You had it on the wrong side, the castle but goes in the recessed area on the drag link.

Another question. How do you line up the cotter pin hole with the slots in the drag link?

The stud isn't fixed, rotate it until its hole lines up with the slots.

Stick a nail or an awl through the hole and turn the stud.

If it’s too tight and won’t turn without bending what you’re using to put in the hole to turn it. I put two nuts on it and locked them together so I could turn it with a wrench. Of course it took multiple tries. I just turned a little at a time and eye balled it until I was pretty sure it would work. Then unlocked the nuts and tried it.

I use the absolute longest lever possible, the tie rod. Install the tie rod in the draglink before you install anything. Rotate the tie rod until the cotter pin hole is perfectly aligned with the slot, slam the nut home, then install cotter pin. More leverage to turn the pin than anyone will ever need.

Tried this but i cannot get a wrench into the slot to get the inside nut locked. Any suggestions?

I apologize. What I meant was with the bar separated, I locked two nuts onto it and spun it to the point I thought it would line up with the hole. Then I took the two nuts off, put it together to see if it lined up. If not, I did it again. It only took a couple of tries.

Ok, used a BFH to get the joint apart. Took some tries to get the hole lined up but I'm good now. Thanks!

Excellent job. I hadn’t tightened mine until it lined up. So, I wasn’t familiar with taking it apart. But, I would have gone down the same road as you did. I believe the arrow points to the correct joint we were discussing. I was debating it for a moment there.
