Debating on ordering a set of custom tuned Fox reservoir shocks. What are your thoughts? Ride quality, etc. Worth the price?

Hmm... Maybe I should wait... Not sure I'm going to outboard or not yet. I'd have to research what all I'd have to do vs cost. Mostly trying to get better ride quality. I'm 75% on road so not entirely sure it's worth it.
I'd at least wait until you decide the direction you want to go.
I'm on extended travel fox shocks (11" front/12" rear) but am running them as I got them so I can get them tuned and test out the results, so I can't really recommend anything beyond saying you can better tailor your travel by playing with mount locations . I'm on somewhere around 70-80% on road.
It depends entirely on how skilled or how incompetent your tuner is.
First and foremost will be cost. It's already going to run me around 1200.00 for shocks. I'll check with my local shop on outboard cost. So I take it I can still do the tuneable Fox shocks without outboarding and still benefit from them?
You can. But especially on the rear, it is difficult to get a proper fit with 50/50 travel and sufficient up travel. That is where building new shock mounts comes into play. You want your tuned shocks shocks to fit the best they can so they can work well.
On road ride quality is a major reason to upgrade. I almost went this route and later decided to just go the outboarding route (after realizing how awesome the Jeep can ride I never looked back). Can’t wait to get that done to my ride. The 11” Fox shocks have been on back order for over a year, but you might time it pretty nicely if you go that route after parts start arriving to vendors (which is perpetually supposed to be soon).
