Does anyone have a part number/brand for their 12pt 1/2" 13mm deep socket? I ordered the Tekton off Amazon and it necks down inside so it catches on the stud before the head of the bolt contacts.

That's strange. I bought the Tekton off Amazon last fall and it worked fine.

I don't have a part number for you, but I used a 13mm 12pt 1/2" drive deep Gearwrench that came in a deepwell socket set that I bought at advance auto on clearance for like $22.

@GoldenGorilla recently informed me that it's actually supposed to be a 1/2" and not 13mm. I had seen conflicting reports of this but was prepared with both. In my case, the 13mm was the better fit. So, maybe try to find both and use whichever fits best and return the other.

I found the factory head bolts to be 1/2", and the Fel-Pro replacements I bought to be 13mm (despite Fel-Pro saying they were a 1/2" 12 pt.

I was surprised as it (not sure if it was in your post) had been recommended but it is solidly not going in, unless Tekton makes more than one? It is an impact socket.

Thanks I'll double check in the morning. My replacement bolts are 13mm, confirmed on the non-stud bolts.

The Gearwrench one came up as a single socket in a search. Closest Advance that has one is about 45min away. I'll check around locally tomorrow at big box, tractor supply, hardware and car shops and hopefully get lucky at one. I'll take one of the new bolts with me to verify in hand.

Strange world. I first tried a gear wrench socket and it wouldn't fit! If the Tektons hadn't worked I was going to drill something out.

Yep that is what I ordered. Tried on both on engine and new, nogo. Not sure if it is a brand thing or what. Don't know what OEM are but my new ones are Mahle.

If I can't find then drilling is the option on the table.

It seems to be mfg dependent. My Craftsman 1/2" 12-pt won't fit cleanly. Gear Wrench does. Odd as this is an SAE bolt thread.

Craftsman deep well 1/2" drive 12 point 13mm is CMMT44441 and it fits well.

My Gearwrench 12 point was part of big set, but is 3/8" drive. Taking torque up to 110 ft-lbs I prefer the 1/2" drive.

I used a Husky. Not impact. Don't recall the size but had zero issues with the existing head bolts or Felpro replacements.

Thanks guys. 5 stores to find a 13mm, resorted to ordering a 1/2" as none available unless getting full sets. Would be cheaper, but for as often as I use 12pt sockets singles were the better way.
