Dana 30/44 Front Axle Seals Reviews

I saw this Axle tube seals sometime ago, search some info, like to use the product based on it and now like to hear some opinions and reviews from who are using them or used in the past.
I'm putting together my front Aussie locker project and this seem to be a good upgrade to add to it, but like to hear how the product behave after the time.

Don't waste your $$$ on it. It's not needed at all but worse, it can hide a leak from the Dana 30's inner seals. There is absolutely no need or reason to seal the outer axle tube. Just keep the factory installed plastic barriers installed at the tube openings to keep the big junk out of the tubes.

Jerry, I realize this is an old thread but I was about to ask you why you thought these were a waste of time and now it makes sense. If the inner seal is leaking you will never know which could lead to a more expensive repair. A leak is actually a tell tail the seal is bad.

Not to mention that all these things do is trap stuff inside the axle housings. It’s one of those gimmicks where they are trying to convince people to solve a problem that simply did not exist in the first place.

They definitely don't hide a seal leak in my very recent experience.

One of the reasons I am on this site and also contribute is that it is an excellent source of Info. and experience. At first glance these outer axle seals look like a great idea. Manufacturers of so many of these parts and add-ons market their products (gimmicks) with a specific audience in mind. Then one hears from a seasoned and experienced guy like Jerry Bransford explain why he shit canned his and the reason becomes obvious. Gotta admit, I did not consider that fact that these will conceal any future inner seal leaks.

Yep! You've got to be careful with the aftermarket car stuff. There's a lot of companies out there who will invent a product like this claiming to solve a problem that doesn't even exist. Hell, 10 years ago I would have bought these myself having known very little about Jeeps.

It pays to do the research though, since you'll find a lot of this stuff is the definitely of snake oil.

When I bought my XJ years ago I fell for all of that crap. Throttle body spacer, K&N full flow filter, performance computer chip, lower temp. thermostat, etc.. I generally don't repeat the same mistake and did not put any of that on my TJ. I have read that the angry bird front grill does increase your gas mileage though.

I'm right there with you. I fell for that crap too, once upon a time (about 15 years or so ago) on previous vehicles I've owned. I blame myself, I just didn't do the research first. I know better now.

Installed a set after cleaning out a bunch of dried mud and grit from the axle tubes. The seals work well for me. Mud and clay don't play well with a lot of stuff on our Jeeps.
