Dana 30 e-locker question

My e-locker has these wings...tabs...can't slide the the ring on... guessing I need to remove this slip ring in the arrow...is that correct and is anything under spring pressure? Thanks for helping!

PS - favorite temp for baking bearings and the ring?

Yep, you've got it right. Pop the end of the slip ring out of the groove and it will spin out easily. Nothing to worry about in disassembly except a couple of alignment pins (if I remember correctly).

I set my ring gear on the wood stove for a while and put the carrier in the freezer. It will probably be helpful to make a mark on the side of the carrier as a reference for alignment of the bolt holes.

Pinion bearing was a pain in the ass to get on. A hydraulic press would have made the job much easier. Good luck!
