Diesel sound

So my serpentine belt was squeaking and then I heard something rattling like a pump or bearing going to pot. After that my engine started sounding like a diesel engine. Looked all over and everything says rod knocking or ticking but mine doesn't have a noticeable tick or knock. It does blow a lot of air and sound a bit like sand in the engine.

Any thoughts or ideas would be great. I deliver pizza and already missed tonight so hope it is something I can fix before work tomorrow.


It is a 2004, 4.0, 151K miles, Automatic

I'm not sure what sand in the engine sounds like?

Maybe an exhaust leak? You got me... this is going to be one big thread of take your best guess. Any chance you can upload a video or an audio clip?
