Different fabric pattern on TJ Rubicon seats?

Both TJ Rubicons I've owned (as well as every TJ Rubicon I've ever seen) has this weave pattern on the seats:

However, in my buddies bone stock 2006 Rubicon, he has solid black cloth seats (no pattern):

Has anyone else seen anything like this before in a Rubicon?

This is new to me, since I've only ever seen Rubicons with that pattern weave in the first photo.

Rubiharas and the 06 models have the bottom pattern. 03-05 models have the top one.

Yep, mine are patterned.

Did your order those seat covers?!? I still want to but need my drivers seat foam replaced. I’m considering trying that myself.

That was my thought, is that this must have been a 2006 thing. Both of mine were 2005s, which explains a lot.

I ordered them, then my card was declined because I had the card shut off using my Card Guard app (forgot to enable the card). I need to go back and re-order them though, I keep forgetting!

@psrivats had the foam replaced recently on his XJ seats. It's a viable, cheap option.

The cushion replacement made it feel 10000 times better. Best interior upgrade since you'll thank yourself every time you drive.

I saw the YouTube videos and decided to take it to a professional shop. Beaverton auto upholstery. They did a very good job.

The 06 seat fabric feels better in my opinion. @zebra12 and I compared, one looks “modern” the other “retro”

There are a few of the khaki/black seats for sale here in CO. The ones I picked up late last year have the pattern. I prefer the pattern. The solid color ones always look real dirty to me.
