Disconnected upstream O2 sensor but no change

Yes this jeep in new to me. Purchased this summer in Bandera Texas. Very clean, runs great. I wanted it to flat tow behind my motorcoach and drive in Colorado. Well it works great as we have been to several states and some roads that were pretty demanding in Colorado.
My cel has only come on twice now.(currently off at this time) As I stated in my earlier post, after autozone checked the code, I filled tank with premium ( know Jerry but...) and added seafoam. it has been off ever since.
I have driven it numerous times each day for 5 or 6 days now.
As the registration is due in February and it will need a state inspection (yes it includes emissions) and the cel is currently off, I'll see if it will pass.
I am now thinking Jerry was correct that my "2000 TJ is a transition year, early models only have one catalytic converter located under the Jeep". I am pretty sure the cat is just in the right edge of this picture and that's the only one I have.
I'll check out the Parts Manual and Factory Service Manual and I need a OBDII Bluetooth dongle for christmas

We’ve maybe passed each other on the road then. We’re up here in Dallas, and have friends in both Albuquerque and Westcliffe, CO., and have toaded Oreo behind Yelliebelle that direction 3-4 times over the past two years, and then Fredericksburg twice this year and last. Thinking about Fredericksburg once the new year festivities are died down around here.

Your right, that’s the main cat in the picture. No O2 sensors around it - well, at least not on mine, but I have the precats.
And being in Texas, I know the issues of getting the inspection. The extent of emissions testing on our Jeeps (and most OBDII vehicles) is that all the computers readiness codes have to be set. Your CEL can be off but your readiness codes have not all been set yet.
You can get your codes without having an OBD reader or going to the auto parts store. Get in the car, put key in ignition and turn to ”On”, then “Off”, three times. On the third “On”, leave the key on and watch the odometer. It will flaws any codes in the computer.
If you have any emissions related codes, they will display.

This procedure will NOT tell you if the readiness codes are set.

Finally, I don’t disagree with Jerry on the running changes that occur - again why it’s good to get the Parts and FSM manuals. Plus, research availability of your exhaust header on sites such as RockAuto, Walker, etc.. See if they show headers both with and without precats. If so, you can be assured whether someone modified your cat system (which means you probably won’t pass emissions) or not. I’ve got another thread on here somewhere that I posted all the parts needed to do a full replacement of my exhaust system from exhaust manifold all the way to the rear bumper. With the age of you Jeep, if the exhaust is all OEM then it’s time for replacement.
