Hey guys. So I’m having a local guy install some new brown dog motor mounts.

when he went to install the driver side mount the bracket that connects to the block fell completely off. See attachments

the Jeep was involved in a minor front end collision years prior.

all advice is appreciated.

Wow. I’m sure someone on here will say weld it, but it won’t be me.

More bad news, those brown dogs suck ass. I installed them, and started chasing vibes a weeks afterwards. I was sure it wasn’t my brand new rubber motor mounts. Guess what? I frickin’ was. I got two new oem mounts and 1” JKS blocks. Boom, vibes gone.

Even Brown Dog's rubber bushing mounts are so stiff they readily pass engine vibrations. I'd either go with, in this order, Savvy's motor mount spacers that retain the OE mounts, or M.O.R.E.'s rubber Bombproof MMLs.

Just use the brown dog, stinky fab racing, or MORE block brackets. That will take care of the issues with the engine boss issues.

as for mounts, brown dogs do vibe a bit more than stock but I haven’t found it to be too bad. Helps that I drive a manual, but a Mopar transmission mount helps a lot as well as choosing the brown dog rubber option. MORE might have a bit more rubber for isolation though. Haven’t used them but the pics look like it.

Honestly after looking closer I’m thinking I may order some MORE Mounts. They look to be a better design from the standpoint of the bushing/sleeve design compared to brown dog. Brown dogs rely on you not tightening the bolt too much which means basically not tightening it at all. MORE let you tighten the bracket tight to the sleeve, and then the engine vibe dampening happens from the sleeve floating in the rubber inside the mount similar to stock. I may have to give them a shot.

The brackets are fine from any company though.

Its my first wrangler. I havent much to compare to. Only my friends JL. I'm sure there is vibes but this 34 year old cant feel it enough to care haha. Ty for the advice tho!

Any chance this Jeep was in a front-end collision? I have heard that is what happens. The vehicle stops suddenly, but the motor keeps going breaking the motor mount bosses.

He said it happened while his Brown Dog motor mounts were being installed. My bet is the installer hammered them on with an impact wrench.

Forsure it was the accident years before.
We got it bolted up and i never knew the car could shift this good. Before this, the shifter would move all over the place because the engine was never securely attached to the frame :oops::oops:

For the more experienced in this thread, is it ever worthwhile installing new brackets like the three brands mentioned as a preemptive measure against this happening? Or just a complete waste of money?

I think it depends on how hard you go on the trail. If its not seeing much off road youre fine.
