So, a few years ago I traded off my 05' TJ, Rocky Mountain Edition, inline 6, 44 in the back.

4" lift, 1" body lift, PSE steering box, tummy tuck, SYE, Tom Woods driveshafts...

....RCV Axle shafts, Detroit rear and Detriot Truetrac in front, Brown Dog motor mounts, Novak cable TC shifter....

....Rock Hard full bolt in cage to the frame, and also their rear bumper and tank skid.... Mounted HiLift....

...Warm M8000S, Cobra CB, Firestick antenea, upgraded headlights, custom electric radiator fan.... transmission cooler w/ fan.....

Custom boat side rock rails...

That's the crap installed by me off of the top of my head.

It was awesome on the trails. Scary flexing sometimes. I loved it, then hated it. I got old. I got impatient.

Traded it away because of emissions issues and it pissed me off. Really pissed me off.

Now I live in a state where there are no emissions testing... zero.... 'Check engine light' here... so what... it means nothing.

I wish I still had that TJ. My blood sweat and tears were built in. It would flip over before it stopped offroad.

I Learned a lesson. You can too.

Be Well. And Keep that Jeep you built, if you can.

Eric

Ok, I'm with you, up to the part where I have a bunch of mods to my Jeep, it's getting really close to "just right". And I've grown old. And I have to deal with an emission inspection every two years, which hasn't been a problem (so far).
I haven't traded my Jeep off yet.
At some point, emissions will bite me, hard. Then I'll have to move to somewhere without emissions inspections. But I live in the state with some of the best trails on the continent. To me, mud bogging or climbing the Florida peaks isn't the least bit appealing. I hope that day never comes.

Oh, and I got mistaken for you once, since the first characters of our names are: OldBu :)

LOL.

I saw an email from Chris and knew it was wrong. I had no pony in the race.

So I let it go and didn't reply because it could have been a phishing scam. (Not actually from Chris). If not, I knew that you guys would work it out.

Congrats on the ROTM!

Oops, it's not you, it's oldjeepman. Sheesh! There are lots of us OLD guys around here.

I don't own a TJ right now. I currently own a 92' YJ, an 06' KJ and 21' JT.

I'm still a Jeep fan, if you can't tell.

So no TJ ROTM for me.

I come here for the fun of it.

Go Jeep peeps.

I'm sure it was - it was exhilarating being that high above the tree line! ;) :D

This your area? ;)

Reminds me of a time in high school. Think 1970's in CA.

Me and my offroad buds would find any mudhole, or anything to flip it into 4wd.

My friend from school 4 wheeled his Bronco over a dirt mound in a nearby construction site. We all went a day later to join in, just to see an angry land owner complaining about "Who drove over my dirt piles and compacted them"!?

We waved and drove away.

I think he understood. Shook his head. But he knew. I imagined he was sayin' "Those darn kids and their daddy's 4 wheel drive."

I'm sorry your parents made you live in Cali in the 70's. It's a thousand times worse now though. Move to Florida and enjoy actual rights and not BS regulations. Prayers to the fire victims that will NEVER rebuild their homes because of Gavin and BS CA regulations.
p.s. Edited so @Chris didn't ban me. NO Politics. ;) (y) 🇺🇸

I had a friend, long since passed, who actually owned the highest point in Fl. He took me there once. I was not impressed.
On a side note if you bought an egg in Fl or PR it came from him.

Yea, its not particularly impressive! What is it, something like 350 feet?

I can't help where I was born. I vote with my feet.

Socialism is real and so is how they tax the middle class. And now the CA state gov can't account for the money they taxed us with.

Deep state is real. All sides have been in on it since the IRS was started. Unconstitutional from day one.

I think too much was found with DOGE. Republicans, Dems and every other politician is scrambling.

Musk found too much. We were all being taken. Our tax dollars are funding big partys, expensive homes, airplanes. Special interest groups bent on socialism.

Yachts and mansions and property for the congress, senate, etc.

So Musk bowed out with silly excuses because the IRS system is unconstititional and so deep. So very deep. Everyone needs to go. Musk wants to live, build space planes and such. Not be taken out my a covert hit.

The curruption will need a whole cleanout of the current staff in DC. Both sides of the isle.

It won't be fixed anytime soon.

It is a good time to be old.

Your the new guy on a new gov job.

Everyone is stealing the donuts in the breakroom.

You ask, "What is going on"?

Everyone else says... go with it. Don't rock the boat. Even the boss steals the donuts. Enjoy your donuts.

Who paid for the donuts.... our tax dollars
