Hi Anyone

We are attending a wedding in NC in June and want to do some beach driving in our classic 06 LJ afterwards.
I need info on this, looks like fun.
Anyone been there, tips insider info?
Thanks

- Get your permit online. Ranger stations may be closed.
https://www.nps.gov/caha/planyourvisit/permitsandreservations.htm#ORV
- Air down
- Watch out for sea turtle nests and bird nesting areas. (Should be clearly marked though)
- Clean under your jeep and in the frame thoroughly when you return home.
I run a fan sprinkler under mine in several different spots for 20 minutes or so per spot. I also flood every access hole I can with the water hose very thoroughly. I drilled some drain hole near the control arm mounts which helps to get all the moisture out. That and a quick drive afterwards.
- I‘d take a recovery rope just in case you’d need to be pulled out of some sand and other vehicles don’t have one.
- Have fun.

If you're going up to the North shores known as Corlla and Corova you technically only need a pass to park on the beach since it'san extensionof route 12. If you want to park and enjoy the beach it's a different pass than the national seashore pass just a FYI. https://co.currituck.nc.us/beach-parking/

The national seashore is south of Nags Head and that pass is linked above.

Same as others mentioned, folding shovel and a strap are good to have. The sand can get really soft and deep in Hatteras.

Ocracoke and Hatteras are awesome on a clear night. One of the few spots on the east coast with low light pollution. It makes star gazing pretty good.

Have fun!
