Dyno ....... what dyno ?

Just curious ......
Lots of 'speed parts' available for the 4.0L inline six cylinder Jeep powerplant.
Lots available, so it stands to reason that 'lots are sold' also ... ?
Considering the application of the 4.0L, it's probable that the most obvious modification(s) would be a 'cat-back' exhaust system & a cleaned-up intake system.
Question: Any members here done these two modifications ?
Anyone dyno'd their TJ ...... preferably 'before and after' ... ?
Thoughts .... ?

The cold air intake myth has been debunked a number of times, even by the Jeep engineers themselves. I’m not even going to touch that one.

As for a catback exhaust, sure maybe you’d have 2-3 hp, but nothing you’re going to feel.

Imo bolts-ons are just that. Bolt ons. If you want to make serious power get a new crank, new rods and re use the piston. Or run a new cam and a ported head.

This, imo, is where power is really made when it comes to the 4.0. Power adders are great too like turbos and superchargers. You really dont need bolts on on the factory 4.0.

I am a fan of aftermarket mufflers. Just to make the 4.0 sound good and give it some, “bark.”

Couldn't find any published dyno sheets ..... just the debunk articles and the 'seat of the pants endorsements from users.
Dyno tells the story .... most of the time.
Agree with others .... cam and cubes.
Again, any dyno results ?

Yes. JCR will be posting his dyno reaults soon. His before numbers matched the factory claims. He has yet to post his after results. But he did say it is on his list of to-do’s.

Ill follow up as soon as I hear the news.
