John Cougar

born John Mellencamp, morphed into John Cougar then John Cougar Mellencamp then back from whence he came to plain old John Mellencamp, seems like he coulda saved himself a lot of trouble just staying put , but damn did he write an early 80's anthem

Some songs are great, with "WTF?" videos. ^^^That's^^^ one of them. ;)

This is another one of those. The damn video has a pedo-vibe to it that is that is downright disturbing. Great song, f'd-up video.

Bands that weren't really rocking weren't what I listened to by choice in the 80s but I did hear that song enough to "think" I knew what it was about. About 20 yrs ago it started to seem decent enough that I wouldn't immediately hit a different channel button but now that I've seen the video...

Here's a little something that I came across three or four years back. It returns some credibility to the song.

OK that verifies how I originally took the song and that where it came from wasn't creepy. I even recognize the earlier version that came out 3 yrs before I was born. It must have been on mom's AM radio multiple times.

About 2:00 in to that Tainted Love "The Story behind the Song" video it shows a video that I vaguely remember as something I wouldn't bother watching in the 80s but probably saw several times because someone else had the remote. So what did I do? I looked up that video and watched it. And what did I notice? That it's kinda creepy because those two invisible characters covered in stars seem to be child sized compared to the main character. Hmmm...

FWIW, I won't be shocked if the lead singer ends up in trouble for something.

I watched a video on the lead singer, before Soft Cell was formed. He fancied himself an artist. One show was him "performing" nude, covered in cat food, standing in front of a mirror, and "slappin' Albert".

Yeah, I agree with your last statement.

Saw The Cult Sunday at Yaamava (Indian casino). This was a bucket list band for me since I was a big fan in the late 80's and used to collect their records. I've been to many concerts, but somehow never ended up seeing them.

Ian Astbury (and fans) is definitely showing his age. Great show though. Also really liked Yaamava Theater. Great place to see a band. Not very large, so every seat is good. 9th row for under $100, not bad.

Also notable that Yaamava Casino doesn't want people like me playing Blackjack. The lowest limit is $10 min. They don't have seats at those tables for the broke, you have to stand the whole time. If you want to sit down, you have to play the $25 min table. So since they closed the Poker room years ago, not likely to go back there soon.

That would be a fun show. I went to the live Danny Elfman Nightmare Before Christmas show a few years ago and he showed up to perform his part.

I'm also going to see Oingo Boingo Former Members in a month, bringing my 13yo.

I've heard Weird Al puts on a great show so I wanted to find out.

Never listened to Oingo Boingo
