It's good to see this happening. But why does the electric motor swap need to look like a V8 when it isn't anything resembling a V8?

It is connected to a manual transmission it could have been easier to attach it.
Im under the assumption that the engine is a solenoid based v8 similar to this modelDo the fake valve covers and simulated intake manifold/carb things help with that?

As they do not go into the working aspects on the bronco i can only assume that is the style they are using
The link doesn't work. But the point is that there is no reason beyond aesthetics and marketing for an electric motor to visually resemble an internal combustion engine. Calling it a V8 is just as weird as calling it a V6 or a V12. Can I order one that looks like a cured ham or a foot stool?

If i am correct it is more than Aesthetics. The motor runs similar to a v8. It just uses solenoids to push the Pistons down. I found a picture of a model.
I do not even pretend to know how efficient it is. But it is a different type than we commonly think of an eletric motor.
Hmm. I wonder how much of this "V8" design exists to make the swap feel familiar to stubborn conservative motorheads. Part of the beauty of an electric motor is the reduction of moving parts. This electric V8 that copies the form and mechanics of an ICE V8 isn't doing that.
Untill I read the article i had no idea that they even existed. Only time will tell on the longevity of the design. Even if I had the 250k i still would not want to be a test case.
But for the retro fit industry it makes sense. Trying to put a eletric motor in a older vehicle would require major modifications. Typically the eletric motor does not have a transmission or transfer case. It is directly connected to the wheels. (Or differential).
If this motor does pass the test of time it could become a viable option to swap to in larger vehicles. Im not convinced that the jeep wrangler will be able to carry the weight of the batteries required to make it viable.

It still looks needlessly complicated and space inefficient when the major hurdle to fittment is getting the electric motor attached to the driveline. There is no functional reason I can understand to replicate the form of pistons and a crankshaft on an electric motor.
Could it just be that general shape for the purposes of a retrofit? Seems like electric vehicles today are all to complete departure of traditional packaging... EVs I'm familiar with have everything packaged below like a surfboard, so retrofitting ICE vehicles with an electric drivetrain is going to take a completely different approach. If you want to drop an electric drivetrain into something that had a V8 I'd think that it would have to resemble the general shape of one? Plus I think it'd make it more palatable for those who would be on the fence with such a product.

Weirdos like me would really enjoy having the more powerful and reliable trashcan under the hood.
Problem solved! I'll just put one of these over an appropriately sized and engineered electric motor.
