As to why...because that's all Honda knows how to do I guess.

Honda has some really good engineering, clear coat quality is questionable. There's a reason they separated that panel on the new gen, I'd like to know why. I'm just going to point this out, one of us has access to a Ridgeline. Maybe some flex testing and measuring is needed.

Only issie I had with my wifes 12th gen new accord was the clear coat was subpar, but 0-102,000 miles not one repair needed to anything on the vehicle. Brakes @ 88,000 was it

They haven't trusted me since I led them over Ophir pass in their Silverado. Not a technical trail by any stretch but a stock 4 door full size truck with step tubes had some breakover angle issues. The problem somewhat improved itself but one mans mod to improve clearance is another mans damage.

not sure if this older video is further back in the thread but I just stumbled onto it on YouTube; this is the surrealistic nightmare scenario the Biden/Newsom class politician is trying to foist upon us all.

Perhaps since this happened GM has developed an 'App' to resolve these issues

It has been posted but it’s a good reminder that if you buy an EV you better figure out how to shift it into neutral in a bricked situation.

For real, but that seems to apply to newer vehicles in general. I’ve been seeing a Ford tech guy talking about how to manually shift some of the electronically shifted Ford trans into neutral. For the ones I’ve seen, you have to get under the vehicle and be competent enough to move a lever, so that knocks out 95% of society.

To that I’ll reiterate the issue we had -40° weather and Mrs App decided she better get fuel in her hybrid and the battery died at the gas pump in our small town that only had two gas pumps.

She had locked the doors to go in and prepay cause she’s weird.

Then quickly realized it had no power to unlock the doors which are needed to pop the hood to jump the battery that’s in the trunk that has no way to manually open the trunk and there’s no visible key slot on the drivers door to manually unlock it to do what all is needed to jump the car and let me remind you it was -40°. Oh and the cars manual is locked in the car too in order to figure it all out, a benefit of having a cell phone to solve this problem.

New cars suck.

what I don't like is that the EV seems to be a computer first and a vehicle second. Computers can be one of the most frustrating things to deal with when they malfunction or flat out take a dump, but at least when they do, while you may be unable to get work done, you're not stuck in the middle of the street with your thumb up your ass.

The situation in the video where the thing is bound up & essentially immovable is unacceptable. The process they had to go through to re-boot it with the rolling the windows down & up one at a time??? WTF

It's no wonder why sales are dropping & manufacturers are slowing production. Who wants to pay through the nose for this horseshit in addition to all the other well known and mounting issues

I've driven it before but was reminded what an unmerciful pain in the balls it is with its touch screen, trying to figure out how to do anything is frustrating including the volume on the radio, working the shifter reminded me of that Hummer piece of shit, foot on brake, push a button, then click the thing either forward or backward. The 'heated steering wheel' kept turning itself on despite me turning it back off multiple times. I can't stand that fucking car, after getting back to their house & back into the old Subaru felt like getting into a lawn tractor, a much preferable lawn tractor. just simple & everything works as it should.

Our whole society is screwed , The engineers and designers plus marketing types dreaming up cars today are disconnected from real life.
As kids these folks didn't build ramps to jump their stingray bikes off of or play army , build forts and tree houses or have snowball fights !

You better stick with your older Crosstrek, this is what the dash of the 2024 looks like, although they still left a volume and tuning knob.

I do love this older one, doing my best to maintain it & push it as far as I can. Ideally I can push it into retirement at which time the whole vehicle operation takes a reduction in urgency/importance.

yeah my sons 2018 Crosstrek has more screen but still retains most of the knobs
