Howdy. I'm dropping my exhaust tomorrow to prep for rear main seal replacement and some other stuff. I bought new bolts from rock auto a week or so ago to replace the ones where the manifold bolts to the pre/mini cats, but they aren't right. What I have from rock auto are splined, as pictured, and the Jeep has clip/u nuts. I keep getting mixed results when trying to clarify on Google. Does the Jeep have splined bolts somewhere in the exhaust system? I just wanna be sure before I begin trying to wrench a splined bolt and snap it.

Those do look like the ones that are on there now. I'm just trying to ensure the bolts connecting the manifold to the pre or mini cats aren't splined. I don't wanna try to loosen them and break the head off if they're splined. If that makes sense.

The bolts are not splined if you’re talking about the ones that mount the top of the cats to the manifold. They screw into the clips that @LONGJP2 posted above. They are unique so I’d suggest having a spare two or four with clips depending on how rusty yours are.

Gotcha. Thank you so much for confirming. I'll grab extras from the parts store. I'll probably need to reuse the clip nuts until the new ones come in, if I can get away with it.

This goes back about a year but I had trouble finding this hardware, and for a reasonable price. I did manage a pack of the speed nuts but never did find the bolts, or maybe they were too absurdly priced or all I could find were the splined bolts (don't recall).

I tried to find the ones I bought as spares but couldn’t. I wanted four and all they had were three. Maybe the last three on the planet? Bought them on mopar parts dot com or something like that. I think it took three weeks to mail them. $8 each too! Gold plated.

Sounds about like mine, might have been the same place. All I recall is the price per part was kind of stupid and they took a while to arrive. And I couldn't find the bolts...

think this is the part you’re looking for.

...these bolts.
