So I took my 2000 Jeep wrangler sport on her maiden off-roading voyage and it was super fun until she broke down. Luckily we called a mechanic friend and after two hours of checking different things we ended up resetting the computer by taking the terminal off the battery and that fixed the problem. Super fun first trip and I'm glad I learned a useful trick.
Oh yeah, it was a blast. Until my friend got stuck. Then I got stuck trying to go pull him out. Then my engine wouldn't turn over haha.
Getting stuck and recovery is part of the fun (sometimes). We run the dunes here and have fun trashing our friends when they get stuck.
Resetting the ECU shouldn't cause the Jeep to not/start. If the underlying cause goes unchecked things may get worse. Is there corrosion on the battery terminals that needs cleaning? Make sure the pinch bolts are tight in the terminals too.
