Fold and tumble seats with child safety latch

I have a ‘98 which is before all the child safety LATCH stuff for car seats.

Since the LATCH system is usually in the actual seat itself, I’m wondering if grabbing a seat from later years would solve the issue? Anyone know when it started and if I’m right in that it’s built into the actual seat?

I checked aftermarket but didn’t have much luck. Right now I’m just using the seatbelt method, but LATCH would make it quicker/safer if possible.
 
I think it was '03? Maybe before that. You aren't the first person that has gone down this path. The mounting of the seat is different. It can be done, but there is more to it than just pulling one seat and plugging the new one in. Fabric won't match either if you care. And just before you get there, because you will, realize you don't have headrests for when the kids get a little older.
