Frame rail rusted through

Driver's side rear frame rail on my 2001 TJ.
My local body shop just wrote back to me,
"That is not good. It is not repairable. Replacement is suggested. I would suggest going online to Jeep forums and see what other people are doing about this. You are not the only one with this problem I'm sure."

Does anyone know of a shop in Northern Illinois that might be able to do a frame swap?
Or, is that such an exhaustive process that it wouldn't be worth it?

uh if you plan to keep it then its worth it. look beyond that you can always ship it or drive it on a trailer.

Perhaps call Thoms 4x4 and ask. 90% of their work is on jeeps.

Usually Safe-T-Caps are the more economical choice unless you don't mind paying $5k+ for a frame swap, assuming you don't do the work yourself. According to Auto Rust Technicians, Jeep 360 in Libertyville is a certified installer.

What you do should depend on the condition of the rest of the frame and body.

It’s unlikely that this is the only area of concern. More photos would be helpful but I’d suspect the entire frame, and a few areas of the body, are ready to fall apart.
