I don't think there is anything to worry about there. Did you tap the yokes with a hammer and make sure the joint turned freely in all directions on install?
I only put about 75- 80 lbs. just to make sure the axle was snugged up to the back of the bearing. Still have to take it to 175# final torque. I can't imagine another 100# would make difference?

Should be enough to put things where they belong. I also think that there is supposed to a bit of acceptable in and out as the knuckle moves. That would be one reason for a splined shaft.
