I hav been hearing a noise near my front wheel. Inspection found one axle ujoint cup partially pushed out. I took a small hammer and easily tapped it back in. It appears clip is still there or is that not the clip? We are winding up our vacation in Ouray, Colorado and I would like to get it home to Arkansas before pulling axle. Will replacing this worn clip help? I don’t seem to have vibration.

IIRC, the C-clip is on the inside, and yours appears to be gone. I don’t think you can buy them separately, but I’d check at the parts store. Ultimately, if I couldn’t get just the clip, I’d buy the cheapest u joint I could find and use the new clip to repair the old u joint.

Yup, that is the grove with a missing clip.
I'd honestly buy a new joint. If you were hearing a noise I'd suspect the needle bearings are likely a little damaged. A $30 part might save you a few hundred.

I definitely will replace it, but if a clip will take it home it would be a much better location to work, with a full set of tools. We have had a wonderful summer 4 wheeling , so easy highway from here. I sure appreciate the responses. There sure isn’t much of a grove there.
