Fuel pump replacement cost

Best do it yourself because you'll have to do it 2-3 or more times finding a pump that lasts.

A Bosch pump is recomended here. The pump costs between $180-360 online. Shop time should be around 4 hrs. Cost depends on local labor rates.
I replace mine on my 05 about a year ago. Having an empty tank helps emencely. Some specialty tools are needed to remove fuel lines and the retainer ring for the pump. I snaped the vent fitting on the tank but was able to glue it back together with UV activated glue. I don’t know about earlyer models but mine was a challenge and took me the better part of the day.
The pictures below show the tool I fabricated to remove the pump retainer ring. You can also buy them online but I didn’t have the time for that.

That or a fuel gauge on the rail and a spare pump in a plastic jar under the driver's seat.
I think all three of those tailsmans ward off the evil fuel pump demons.

I have a complete(back when you could get them)complete Bosch pump,original denso starter&alt.im prepared but haven’t needed em yet(lol)
That's what I did too. New Bosch pump was from Brazil and lasted two weeks. Plus the plastic cage was so brittle it started to break off tabs.
I put my original pump back in and replaced the pressure regulator...but the fuel pressure was only 33 psi.
So I did the smartest thing I could and just bought the next to cheapest fuel pump assembly...a Brute Power...from Rock Auto for $60. Then bought a 5/16 QD adapter and fuel pressure gauge.

Yep,it’s an original complete unit in the big box,I have the original alternator also in the same box,but by the time I get around to using it,will probably be rotted(lol)from hauling it around for years.

Define "newer TJs". For 05-06, it looks like Rock Auto still has them for $225 (up from $150 a couple of years ago). Amazon too for $278.
