Gear pattern check and backlash questions

Agreed, just a bit deep.. I know it sucks! Just went through it on mine.. Pull just a bit of shim out and run her again.. Be careful of the setup race vs the real race changing pinion height.. It sure has on a few of mine.. Don't be afraid to beat it out and do the last tweak to make it pattern perfect.

Heres the latest, I pulled a couple thou out of the pinion shim pack and put the new race in. This was the best I could do while staying within specs for the backlash.

And the fronts all buttoned up, going to pull the rear axle tonight and start the regear process all over again.
Thanks again for all the help and advice.

sorry for reviving but how'd the regear turn out? did it do fine with that pattern?

Everything turned out great, runs very quiet and smooth. I changed the fluid at about 500 miles then put another 5,000 miles on it before selling it to a buddy. I was wheeling with him a couple of weeks ago and he's had zero issues with the Jeep.
