There was a thread about this a while ago where people were looking for a replacement dash for the TJ and at the time GR had said they were going to be coming out with a dash at some point. Well here it is.

That’s pretty cool. I too am surprised it doesn’t carry a four figure price tag!

I'll admit that some of the things GR offers seem a little over priced but $900 for this dash and $500 for the center console isn't bad. Go price some of the other dashes being sold. And how much does a Tuffy Center console cost?

It's just a dislike for GR IMO.

Niiiice! I sure wouldn't be putting an iPad in the dash, but I could think of lots of things to install instead!

It might be cut with a llaaazzzooorrrrr

But it's ultimately just folded over aluminum riveted together. 900 is too damn strong for that.

Moreover IMO it just doesn't belong in a TJ. Perhaps the idea is better suited for a YJ...still sporting leaf springs and a simple straight facing in rank gauges spreading across the front along with a still simple hvac control...

Definitely not a TJ with 4 coils, tighter sealing top, a driver POV center gauge pod...more modern HVAC controls, proper hvac vents, etc etc

To each their own however.

I roll around with flat fenders on mine but not for a more Willys look but rather my fenders had the infamous cancer and needed 86'd for new ones.
I opted for the plastic ones as the trails we go are extremely tight and hitting a tree will only bend that plastic and allow it to return to it's original state. A steel fender...especially the welded heavy tube versions won't give whatsoever at the fender but will most definitely make something give elsewhere.

That will take some convincing. I'm pretty full up with making enough of their stuff fit with all the work arounds we have to do. Not sure I need to take on any more to add to that skill set.
I just can't figure out what this solves unless you simply want an aluminum dash or basically remake it by adding features (but then you probably have the skills to make the entire thing). It's a very confused product IMHO.

Do you have any builds that this could fit into?

Solves the problem of needing a matching dash to the center console. It is exactly a derivative product to that. They'd be dumb if they didn't do it.

I get that. I had wanted an aluminum dash for a while until I started thinking about all the work required to make most of them fit. I think the end result simply isn't worth it unless perhaps you're ripping out the HVAC system and turning it into fully dedicated off-road rig.

I don't think it solves much honestly. I simply like them from a visual perspective in that you could paint it body color, put some cool Autometer gauges in it, and probably have it look something like an old CJ dash (which I'm a big fan of). Of course I don't think it's ultimately worth it as the HVAC system behind the dash prevents it from ever really being a CJ style dash.

Look closer. While the dash may be cheap, if you pay someone for the install, it will be mind numbingly expensive since there is little more than a blank shell. The installer needs to deal with AC, switches, wiring, and a ton of other crap that will be 30-40 hours of work.

Yep, I don't doubt one bit you could put 30-40 hours into installing one of those and setting it up the way you want it. It's no small project, that's for sure.

Plus you still have to figure out the routing for the vents, if they'll even fit that is.

unless perhaps you're ripping out the HVAC system
This only retains the defroster from the looks of it. But leaves all of the room behind the dash empty. I can't think of enough stuff to fill the dash with.
