GenRight Aluminum Dash

Yep, I don't doubt one bit you could put 30-40 hours into installing one of those and setting it up the way you want it. It's no small project, that's for sure.

Plus you still have to figure out the routing for the vents, if they'll even fit that is.
Go look up some of the billet hot rod dash vents for AC. You thought Jeep parts were expensive.

Isn't the steering wheel going to look dorky with this too? Add that to the list.

This only retains the defroster from the looks of it. But leaves all of the room behind the dash empty. I can't think of enough stuff to fill the dash with.

Yep, as much as I like a cool looking dash, I refuse to give up my heat or A/C. At that point you might as well just get a SxS.

Reactions: toximus
A JK steering wheel might look alright or maybe some off a Dodge/Ram truck. But aside from the wiring, I assume the assembly wouldn't just bolt right up?

Something tells me a metal dash may rattle even more than Chrysler's wonderful plastic already does.

Now you've added a layer of complexity to the right side that will be very problematic.
Yeah, I’m not sure how an airbag is going to burst through an aluminum panel without some sort of provision.

I wouldn't want airbags in an aluminum dash. It's basically like the Takatas in Hondas once you do that. I'm sure this is geared towards off-road only rigs like buggies and stuff.

It doesn't, you have to cut a hole and install the OEM airbag with the break away plastic front it has. Like I said, a layer of complexity.

Oh, okay. And at that point it’s going to make that dashboard look really silly with that factory plastic piece on top of the aluminum anyways. Might as well just keep the factory dash at that point.

Just cover that plastic with some aluminum foil. One problem solved. I don't know about the rest though.

Way I see it, that dash enables customizations that just aren't possible with stock. You can have as many switches, gauges, radios, and even touch screens as you want. Plus it looks like a Jeep dash - not something borrowed from a minivan. I'd love to have one, but I'm probably too lazy to deal with it.

I have always jacked up my dashes from stock. Love doing it. Too bad This was not available a year ago.
