Has anyone used glue tread to repair a tire on the trail ? I just saw the product and it looks pretty handy to have in your emergency kit. Does it work as advertised ?

I already have a tube of super glue and an inner tube in my Jeep. Works for deep gashes in the skin too. 
I haven't used the tire patches, but a set of the colby valves that gluetread seems to have purchased, came in handy when i tore up a valve stem at Hidden Falls that wasn't discovered until sunday morning when i needed to drive 4hrs back home.
I have a kit in the Jeep since I keep the spare on the trailer, haven't had to use it yet. I think someone we saw on Trifecta at EJS used one and was able to finish.

For a hot second I thought you meant you were running inner tubes in your tires.
When I was like 10 my dad thought it was hysterical that I thought car tires ran inner tubes. I recall being annoyed, because like how/why would 10 year old hear know that?
I have a kit and haven't used it but here are a couple of thoughts. If there is a raised letter at or very near the tear you will spend a lot of time shaving and/or grinding it flat to make the patch work. If you research the components I believe you will find that it is just rubber reinforced cyanoacrylate adhesive (aka super glue), cyanoacrylate adhesive accelerator, and rubber sheet that matches tire construction. Butyl? I don't recall. At one point I looked it all up and found all the components online for significantly less cost,
Interesting point. At least I carry a grinder with a flap wheel with me on trail, but I'm sure that'll make an interesting mess.
