Hi everyone, I've really been enjoying reading through this forum over the past couple of months and am looking forward to being a more official member of the group when I finally get a TJ in the garage. After missing a few good deals, I feel like my luck is going to change soon. I'm going to look at one that has been converted to flat fenders with essentially 0 flare. Unfortunately, this won't work for me, but I think the rest of the Jeep may. My question is how difficult is it to reverse or swap flat fenders? It looks like it's a barricade or similar with minimal flare. I like the flat fender look and had thought about going with MCE's when I get my build going but I have to have more flare than these provide. Change back to stock fenders or go with different flatties? Is this going to be more trouble than it's worth?

I'm not sure about the process of changing the fenders out, but definitely be sure to ask if he still has the originals in storage somewhere in case you do decide to go back to stock look. The MCE fenders will require you to reuse (and cut) the stock fenders as part of the installation.
I would think no on cutting the fenders. I replaced the driver side eon my TJ. It was pretty simple. I would imagine it would be the same to remove the flats and reinstall the oem fenders. I would definitely see if they have the original fenders.
Oh, you're right! I assumed they were completely bolt-on, but you do have to cut to install the barricade ones. In that case, the question now is, do the barricades require you to cut too much away to install the MCE's? You could probably dig around for some installation instructions online to find the answer.
The stock front fenders are an entire piece. Outer/inner fender. In order to swap back you just need new fenders and a paint job or hopefully you can find some take off's that are in that same color.
You can't go back to stock w/o replacing entire fender. On my kid's last TJ, we put shittybilts on and I have MCEs on mine, they seem to be really close to the same cut. His old TJ isn't here anymore so I can't get pics to compare.
