Long story short: Jeep failed inspection cuz of the following:
Broken manifold bolt
Rusted out tank skid
Rusted out middle body mounts
Lower hose clamp fubar
I replaced the hose and clamp and dropped it off at a shop I was recommended by quite a few to tackle the rest. They fixed the broken bolt, replaced the skid, and welded in new sections for the body mounts. I thought It was good to go until new issues popped up.
It clanks hard when you start it. Something is banging the underside. Looks like cat is tapping on the skid and bangs on it when you start. Dunno how it go lower than it was before.
Smells like gas ALL the time. Strong around the filler hose. I had em replace the filler hose while it was out. No gas leaking from what I can see.
Body mounts have a 1/8" gap between them and the frame mount but bolts are tight.
Still sputtering when it hits 2000 rpms in any gear. This showed up when shop #1 screwed up the manifold gasket replacement and it has been doing it since. Drives fine to 1999 rpms and over 2001rpms but NOT at 2000. Weird. I thought it was the broken bolt and all the leaking around the manifold but that has been fixed and it still does it.
Shop wants it back to fix it all up and make it right but Im wondering what's going on.
